Project research

This project, led by Dr Rhys Turner-Moore at Leeds Beckett University and funded by the Economic and Social Research Council, is the largest study ever on online sperm donation. Ten researchers from five organisations are collaborating on the project. Click here to meet the team.

Where we’re up to

We are now more than halfway through our project, which involves following the experiences of over 30 donors and recipients who have used or are currently using online sperm donation. We have been following their journeys by conducting multiple interviews with them, their partners, and the individuals they conceive with. Over the next year, we will carry out the third and final round of interviews.

Additionally, we have completed the second study of this research: a digital ethnography of online sperm donation. Dr Lauren Smith, along with the wider research team, is currently analysing the data and preparing the findings to share with the world. In the coming months, we will hold webinars to share our insights with website owners.

You can also stay up-to-date with the project via our blog or by signing up to our mailing list.
